School day memories

Created by Robert 3 years ago

I was a pupil at TCPS ( as it was) from '63 to '68 and have fond memories of my time there. We always knew where we stood with Mrs Gretton, and she was a fine teacher and head mistress - something I only fully appreciated later in life. My brother , Gareth, a former pupil too, and I often invoke one of her school lunchtime expressions when sitting down to a meal with our families ( when allowed!): "would you like a small portion or an ordinary portion?  You cannot ask for a large portion as that would be greedy". My grown up children can often be heard to recite that too , without ever knowing the person who initiated it. Her legacy lives on in many ways.
